The country is witnessing a silent revolution in its entrepreneurial sector where more women are moving out of traditional boundaries to create a life of their choice. They are termed Fempreneurs because these women are not only venturing out on a path less trodden but are also transforming the essence of ambition and freedom through their innovative ideas and successful business ventures.
This rise of female entrepreneurs India is not just inspiring, it’s long overdue.
For many women, becoming an entrepreneur isn’t always an intentional process. Most of them start their journey with an idea in mind to explore a new world of opportunities and discover their potential. Some do it out of the need to add extra cash to their family savings while others do it to find a purpose beyond office cubicles. In most cases, their initial efforts bear little significance but end up creating wonders over time.
Nowadays, whenever people mention famous female entrepreneurs in India, they generally refer to those whose names have made headlines in newspapers. What we forget is that besides these well-known figures, there are countless fempreneur stories that are silently contributing to the growth of the economy through their entrepreneurial ventures.
Let us be honest; this is not an easy ride for women entrepreneurs. There are some real and unique challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in India.
One of the major problems is funding. It may sound unbelievable, but sometimes it’s hard for women to attract investors despite having excellent business ideas. Another problem involves constantly juggling between running the business and satisfying the demands of family life. Society is certainly evolving, but at a slow pace.
Confidence is another aspect that is adversely affected by years and years of conditioning. Not only this, but there is also a problem with mentoring due to the lack of mentors and networking opportunities.
The truth is, despite all these issues, women continue to show up and do their best.
Perhaps one of the most exciting elements of this trend is how diverse the startups ideas for women in India are becoming. Interestingly enough, a large number of these business models are based on real-life experience.
Women are launching their own online shops to sell products such as those which are made by hand or sustainably. Other females have started creating their own wellness brands or conducting various online courses. The ease of starting small businesses via the Internet cannot be ignored.
The point here is that many women seem to be starting their own ventures with the primary intention of having an impact in society.
In essence, this trend is based on women empowerment in business activities. The empowerment of a woman who decides to earn money becomes not only financially independent but also feels a different person both internally and externally.
She gains self-confidence. She has decision-making powers. Eventually, the perspective will change, both at a family level and in the community around her.
It is particularly remarkable that women help each other out. Whether it’s in online groups or locally-based ones, women collaborate rather than compete with each other.
